What is Reiki?  If you ask the average person, they most likely will either not know, or they’ll know that it has something to do with the bodies energy.  Heck – that’s all I knew about it, and I sell Reiki-energized amulets & wands!  (Obviously that is done by someone WAY more knowledgeable than I – a Reiki master in fact – impressive, hugh?)

So it turns out that Reiki is an ancient Japanese art that was lost throughout history, and was re-discovered toward the end of the 19^th century, by a man named Mr. Mikao Usui.  He believed that Reiki was the ancient healing art used by the worlds’ greatest healers, like Jesus and Buddha. 

He didn’t just stumble upon a lost scroll or anything.  It took years and years of study, research, travel and meditation.  After all that, he began his 21 days of fasting, mediation and prayer atop a famous mountain in Japan.  During his ordeal he had a vision that sort-of made it ‘click’ for him – and viola!  Reiki was re-born.

So – what is Reiki?  It’s the channeled form of energy healing.

OK – so what is Reiki?? 

Reiki is the practice of channeling the universal life energy and drawing it in through the crown chakra and out through the hands.   The energy is then transmitted to the recipient by the placing of hands onto the person or in their aura (their personal energy field).  This is done by a series of learned hand movements made throughout the major sites of the body/aura.

Now – this is very unique.  For just about every other method of working with energies, including using crystals for healing the non-Reiki way, the energy used comes from the person doing the healing or charging (of crystals).  Only in Reiki does the energy come from an ‘outside source’.

So, as they are channeling the energy to the recipient, they too are reaping the benefits.

Reiki treatments can be given to yourself, other people, animals and even plants – anything that taps into the universal life force can benefit from the directed channeling of that energy.  After much experience and study Reiki healing can be given across any distance, and even along past or present time-lines/situations within your life.  (How cool is that???)

So it’s easy to see how Reiki can be a very powerful and useful tool! 

But it gets even more interesting.  Every Reiki practitioner today can draw a direct line of lineage from themselves, to their teacher/Reiki Master to their Master to their master – all the way back to Mr. Mikao Usui!  Now that is impressive!

Along with the actual practice the original  Reiki Ideals have been passed down as well – and they are just as relevant today as they ever were.  “Just for today, do not worry.  Just for today, do not anger.  Honor your teachers, your parents, your neighbors, your friends.  Give thanks for all living things.  Earn your living honestly.”
